When it comes to beauty, there are all sorts of ways to fake a look without committing to a permanent change. You can opt-out of lash extensions with faux lashes, get a ‘sunkissed’ glow (minus the UV rays) with a contour-and-highlight palette, and yes, you can get ‘bangs,’ at least temporarily, without actually having to chop your hair. We’re talking effortless, face-framing, Brigitte Bardot-inspired curtain bangs–no haircut required.
Of all the bang styles, longer, center-parted curtain bangs are some of the most flattering–and this ’60s and ’70s-inspired look is trending in a big way. (See also: TikTok.) So if you’re curious about what you might look like with curtain bangs, why not take them for a test drive? Ahead, see how to fake bangs with a high ponytail and channel your inner bombshell.

Step 1: Separate face-framing sections from the rest of the hair
Step 2: Secure the hair into a high ponytail.
Step 3: Drape face-framing sections into faux bangs and secure with bobby pins near the ponytail elastic on each side.
Step 4: Wrap the ponytail with a section of hair (include pinned hair in the ponytail), and secure with a bobby pin.
- Add Texturing Spray before styling for hold and fullness.
- For the texture in these photos, begin the style with soft, beachy waves.
